from Dressing the Debutantes

Hola Irate Pirate,
First let me say that I love your blog. It is part of my morning routine when I get to work (normally before I open my work inbox). I've lost count of how much great music you've introduced me to (foremost in my mind being Reverend Gary Davis...how did i ever survive before hearing him??).
I've noticed several posts recently of bands who contacted you so I thought I would take a stab at telling you about my band: dressing the debutantes. For recording purposes, we (chris hutchison-jones and jesse busen) are currently a 2 man band playing whatever instruments we can put our hands on. As we live in different cities (Boston and Washington DC) I usually perform solo with guitar and banjo in the Boston area.
We have recorded 6 albums over the last 6 years, most of which were recorded in less than 2 days. I once heard that Neil Young liked to record a song just before the band was comfortable with it. We have taken this on as a mantra of necessity. What we lack in polish we make up for with spit and duct tape.
I have attached some tracks from our 2008 album "other voices, smaller bones" for your listening pleasure. The entire album, along with 3 others, are available for streaming and FREE download at http://alonetone.com/dressingthedebutantes. The most recent of these "every tongue got to confess" was written and recorded in the February 2009 for the RPM Challenge (www.rpmchallenge.com). And we are currently finalizing out 6th album "take up snakes" (we are nothing if not prolific).
So this was my stab in the dark. My eyesight is less than stellar so we'll see what happens. Thanks for posting great stuff and for taking the time to listen to ours.

Cool. Unique sound, yet not unlike other contemporary Americana. Keep it up, boys.
